October 2009―After
several years of planning and advance
gifts work, Truman State University
formally announced its $30 million fundraising campaign
entitled “Bright Minds Bright Futures." The celebratory announcement
took
place during Homecoming festivities, Oct. 9-10, 2009, on the Truman campus.
The campaign kickoff celebration was held in conjunction
with the annual Alumni and Friends Banquet. The event also
included recognition of
Homecoming honorees, Athletic Hall of Fame Induction
Ceremony and the Golden Alumni Diploma Ceremony.
Chuck Foudree ('66), retired vice president and chief financial
officer of Harmon Industries in Blue Springs, Mo., is
serving as the campaign’s chair. Through early September
2009, a
total of $18.4 million in advance commitments had been
secured toward the campaign’s major priority areas –
scholarships, student enrichment activities, faculty
support, athletics and mission enhancement.
The five-year campaign (2006-2011) is designed to help
Truman achieve its vision of becoming the nation’s premier
public liberal arts and sciences institution and elevate its
status among all schools of higher education.
Following the formal announcement, the campaign
entered its public phase for the final two years of
operation. Regional centers have been established in 11 areas
across the country, and all Truman constituents will be
asked to participate as we build a stronger Truman together.
