Scholarships make a real
difference in the lives of students. Few gift
opportunities have more direct impact than
providing a financial helping hand in the
educational process. Ensuring a Truman education
remains affordable for deserving students is at
the core of the University mission.
Student Enrichment &
Academic Program Support In the early days of the University, Founder Joseph Baldwin recognized the importance of taking learning beyond the classroom and required all students to be involved in at least one organization. More than 140 years later, this educational pioneer would be proud to see that opportunities for learning experiences outside the classroom have mushroomed and reach all corners of the globe.
To meet the challenges of an ever-changing and global society, Truman offers students access to four powerful learning opportunities―study abroad, undergraduate research, internships, and service learning. The University encourages all students to participate in at least one these four pedagogies before they graduate, and private gifts will allow students of all means an opportunity to participate through stipend support.
Faculty Support There is strong competition among universities for distinguished professors who shape and invigorate dynamic programs. To attract and retain outstanding faculty who add prestige to the institution, Truman State University must be prepared to support such a vital component.
Investing in endowed faculty chairs and professorships enables Truman to develop faculty who are committed and dedicated to their work. Earnings from the endowment will support the teaching, research, and professional activities of the recipient beyond traditional levels of University support. The fund may support course development, graduate assistants, equipment and technology, and salary enhancement of the recipients.
Intercollegiate
Athletics
Current gifts to the Bulldog Fund, and those designated to the individual athletic teams, enhance operations, equipment, and scholarship dollars that are essential to maintaining high-quality athletic programs.
Improving Truman's physical athletic facilities is paramount in remaining viable and competitive in the NCAA Division II and MIAA Conference circles. Student-athlete recruitment will be significantly enhanced by providing new and renovated facilities that help prepare athletes for competition.
A renovation of Stokes Stadium, including the installation of field turf, offers multipurpose usage for football, soccer, and the marching band. Targeted renovations to the Bulldog Kennels, Pershing Arena, and weight-training facilities will benefit the overall student-athlete experience.
Legacy Gifts Charitable giving is not only for the wealthy. Through planned giving, donors from all walks of life and income levels can make a substantial gift to Truman that supports programs that are meaningful to them. Depending on the planned giving vehicle, these additional benefits may also be realized:
Your planned gift will help
secure a bright future for countless young
scholars who will benefit from your generosity.
